Revolution Medicines' Europe efforts signal solo launch ambitions for cancer drug
RVMD•Revolution Medicines is building a European commercial presence for its pancreatic cancer drug after an EMA committee recommended marketing authorization, with analysts saying it could launch the drug alone. Analysts forecast peak global sales of $11.5 billion, while one analyst expects $3.2 billion to $3.3 billion in peak sales outside the US.
1. European approval process
The European Medicines Agency's human medicines committee recommended marketing authorization for daraxonrasib, known as Rasonque, and the European Commission will review the application. Revolution Medicines is seeking approvals through Project Orbis, which enables parallel submissions to the EMA, the UK's MHRA, Health Canada and Australia.
2. Building commercial capacity
The company said it is expanding regulatory, medical, market access and commercial infrastructure in key European markets. LinkedIn postings showed at least 50 advertised roles across the UK and Europe in the last month, including positions requiring expertise in Germany, Italy, France and the Netherlands.
3. Funding and sales outlook
Three Wall Street analysts said Revolution could pursue a solo European launch despite this being its first approved drug. Its agreement with Royalty Pharma provides up to $2 billion in development and marketing funding. Analysts forecast peak annual global sales of $11.5 billion, while Stifel analyst Laura Prendergast expects peak sales outside the US of $3.2 billion to $3.3 billion, mostly from Europe and Japan.
