Revolution Medicines Shifts R&D Leadership, Names Xiaolin Wang EVP of Portfolio Strategy
RVMD•Steve Kelsey shifts from president of R&D to senior advisor to the CEO on July 1, 2026, and will retire January 4, 2027, before joining the board. Revolution Medicines names Alan Sandler to lead development, Jan Smith to oversee research, and Xiaolin Wang as EVP of portfolio strategy and manufacturing.
1. Leadership Transition Details
Steve Kelsey, M.D., FRCP, FRCPath, has served as president of research and development since March 2017. Effective July 1, 2026, he will become senior advisor to the CEO and plans to retire on January 4, 2027, with an anticipated board appointment thereafter.
2. Updated R&D Leadership Structure
Revolution Medicines will retain Alan Sandler, M.D., as chief development officer overseeing development, while Jan Smith, Ph.D., chief scientific officer, will lead all research activities under the new structure effective July 1, 2026.
3. New EVP Role for Integrated Portfolio Management
Xiaolin Wang, Sc.D., will assume the newly created position of executive vice president of integrated portfolio strategy and management, responsible for portfolio strategy, pharmaceutical development, and manufacturing coordination.
