RGP study finds 49% of CFOs say transformation demands exceed organizational capacity
RGP•RGP’s 2026 CFO study found that 49% of CFOs say transformation demands exceed organizational capacity, while 89% are positive about their financial outlook over the next 12 months.
1. Transformation capacity
Only 31% of CFOs said at least three-quarters of major strategic initiatives delivered their intended results on time over the past three years. Execution or organizational factors were the biggest constraint on enterprise value for 43%, compared with 11% citing technology, data or AI maturity.
2. AI returns
Just 10% reported significant positive returns from AI, while 54% expect them within 24 months. Positive AI returns were reported by 79% of organizations with sufficient transformation capacity, versus 24% of those whose demands exceed capacity.
