Rhode Island Energy completes $2.7 million Cumberland reliability upgrade

Rhode Island Energy completed a USD 2.7 million electric reliability upgrade in Cumberland on Aug. 31, 2026.
The work targets roughly 2,300 customers, with the aim of cutting outage frequency by 20% and outage duration by 25%.
The project replaced about 1.2 miles of distribution line, added 0.7 miles of new cable, and improved network flexibility.
