Smart switch upgrades accelerate grid modernization
Rhode Island Energy, a PPL unit, has accelerated grid modernization to cut outages by deploying automated “smart switches” that reroute power during faults.
The upgrades are aimed at fewer customer interruptions, faster restoration times and stronger system resilience across Rhode Island.
