Rio Tinto-backed Tomago Aluminium signs 10-year power supply PPA through 2038

Rio Tinto holds 51.55% of Tomago. Other partners include Gove Aluminium Finance with 36.05% and Norsk Hydro with 12.4%.
Investment and emissions plans
Tomago plans an AUD 1.1 billion investment through 2038, including AUD 100 million for decarbonization projects.
The renewable supply from 2033 is intended to support a 7.1 million-tonne annual cut in Tomago’s Scope 1 and 2 operating emissions.
Tomago Aluminium secures long-term power supply
Rio Tinto-backed Tomago Aluminium has signed a 10-year power purchase agreement that will start after its current electricity contract expires on Dec. 31, 2028.
The deal runs through 2038 and is described as delivering internationally competitive power, with supply shifting to 100% renewable electricity from 2033.
