Rio Tinto signs interim co-management agreement with Ngarlawangga Aboriginal Corporation on cultural heritage protection

Rio Tinto signed an Interim Modernised Agreement with Ngarlawangga Aboriginal Corporation to strengthen cultural heritage governance at its West Angelas iron ore operations.

The deal sets a jointly designed co-management model, expanding early engagement across the mine lifecycle to guide decisions on Country protection.

It adds long-term financial support for Ngarlawangga social, cultural, and economic priorities, with emphasis on culture and community development.

The interim pact builds on a 2011 participation agreement, positioning both parties to negotiate a full modernised agreement.
