Agreements signed to sell Dampier plant stakes
Rio Tinto signed non-binding agreements with Western Australia to sell their 50:50 stakes in the Dampier Seawater Desalination Plant to Yindjibarndi WaterCo.
The plant has an A$1.1 billion construction budget. A binding deal is targeted by year-end. Pricing depends on construction costs.
Rio Tinto will manage construction. Operational control is set to transfer to Yindjibarndi WaterCo once construction is completed.
