Robinhood’s WonderFi Deal Extended to July 2, 2026, and Wisconsin DOJ Suit
The Supreme Court of British Columbia extended WonderFi’s AGM deadline to July 2, 2026, as Robinhood advances integration ahead of the planned acquisition closing in H1 2026. The Wisconsin DOJ filed lawsuits seeking preliminary and permanent bans on Robinhood’s sports event contracts, alleging illegal betting under state law.
1. AGM Deadline Extension for WonderFi Acquisition
The Supreme Court of British Columbia granted WonderFi’s request to postpone its annual general meeting deadline from August 24, 2025, to July 2, 2026, under s.186 of the Business Corporations Act. Robinhood continues integration efforts and targets completion of the share acquisition in the first half of 2026, pending remaining conditions.
2. Wisconsin Lawsuit Targets Sports Event Contracts
The Wisconsin Department of Justice sued Robinhood, seeking preliminary and permanent injunctions to block its sports event contracts, labeling them unlawful commercial gambling. The complaint asserts that payouts tied to sporting outcomes violate the state’s ban and could force Robinhood to modify or suspend its offerings for Wisconsin residents.
