Rocket Lab Plans Neutron Debut in 2026 After 20 Launches and 47% Revenue Surge Forecast
Rocket Lab launched 20 Electron missions in 2025 and readies its first Neutron rocket debut in 2026. Analysts forecast revenue of $880 million in 2026, up 47% year-over-year, and predict a $0.08 per share profit with $76 million free cash flow in 2027.
1. Rocket Lab Achieves Record 21 Launches in 2025
Rocket Lab completed a record 21 successful Electron rocket missions during 2025, surpassing its prior annual high of 18 in 2024. The small-satellite specialist now averages nearly two launches per month, deploying more than 6 metric tons of payload to Low Earth Orbit. This operational tempo cements Rocket Lab’s position as a leading provider of dedicated rideshare services, with 30 launches booked through mid-2026, including missions for government agencies and commercial constellation operators.
2. $816 Million National Security Contract Fuels Backlog
In December 2025, the Space Development Agency awarded Rocket Lab an $816 million task order to design, build and launch 18 reconnaissance satellites by late 2027. This represents the company’s largest single contract to date and brings its total backlog to approximately $1.9 billion. Management expects national security work to account for 40% of revenues in 2026, while commercial customers—including Earth imaging and Internet-of-Things constellations—will comprise the remainder.
3. Profitability on Horizon as Neutron Rocket Enters Production
Rocket Lab is on track to turn profitable in fiscal 2027, driven by the upcoming introduction of Neutron, a medium-lift reusable launch vehicle capable of delivering 13,000 kg to orbit. Analysts project 47% revenue growth to $880 million next year, rising to $1.2 billion in 2027. Positive free cash flow of $76 million is forecast for the same period, eliminating the need for further equity dilution. With production facilities already under construction in Virginia and continued margin expansion from reuse, Rocket Lab expects to achieve break-even on operations by mid-2027.
