Rocket One signed a one-year sponsored research agreement with Virginia Commonwealth University to develop SKYMRAM, a skyrmion-based magnetic memory for AI chips. Starting Nov. 1, 2026, the program targets a proof-of-concept milestone demonstrating switching of SKYMRAM’s soft magnetic layer.
2. Project scope
The work will cover nanoscale fabrication, materials optimization and device-level testing to assess feasibility for AI infrastructure, space and defense computing. Northwestern University will support thin-film growth, characterization and optimization under a subaward, and Rocket One has an option to negotiate licenses to intellectual property arising from the project.
