Rogers completes C$4.35 billion buyout of remaining MLSE stake
RCI•Rogers completed its C$4.35 billion purchase of Kilmer Sports’ remaining 25% stake in Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, bringing its ownership to 100%. Rogers will combine MLSE with its existing sports and media operations in a new unit called Rogers Sports.
1. Rogers takes full ownership
Rogers completed the purchase of Kilmer Sports’ remaining 25% stake in Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment for C$4.35 billion, taking its ownership to 100%. The deal gives Rogers control of major Toronto sports franchises and key venue assets.
2. New sports unit
Rogers Sports will combine MLSE with Rogers’ existing sports and media operations, including the Toronto Blue Jays. Keith Pelley remains MLSE CEO and takes added responsibility for Rogers Media, while Mark Shapiro continues to lead the Blue Jays.
