RCIRCI

Rogers is launching satellite-powered asset tracking with Geotab, becoming the first Canadian carrier to offer satellite-to-mobile IoT extending 5G+ coverage to remote regions. The service expands connectivity beyond the 18% traditional network footprint for near real-time tracking of trailers, containers and equipment nationwide, with GO Anywhere hardware due this spring.

1. Partnership Launch

Rogers Communications is partnering with Geotab to deliver Canada’s first satellite-to-mobile IoT asset tracking service. The offering integrates Rogers Satellite via low-earth orbit satellites with Geotab’s GO Anywhere Plus tracker over the 5G+ network.

2. Technology and Coverage

The solution leverages low-earth orbit satellites and Rogers’ national wireless spectrum to seamlessly switch IoT devices between cellular and satellite networks. This extends connectivity beyond the 18% of Canada covered by traditional wireless networks.

3. Applications and Rollout

Rogers Business customers can now monitor trailers, containers and equipment in near real-time across remote highways, rail corridors, forestry and mining sites. Satellite-enabled GO Anywhere hardware will be available this spring.
