Ross Stores dips with TJX, Walmart; Ross results due after the bell
ROST•Ross shares fall ahead of quarterly results
Shares of Ross Stores ROST.O are down 2.2% at $229.44 on Thursday ahead of quarterly results, due after the bell, with focus on consumer demand after rival TJX TJX.N reported a slowdown at its TJ Maxx and Marshalls discount apparel chains in Q2 and Walmart WMT.O posted its slowest quarterly comparable sales growth in six years.
Ross is expected to report a jump in Q2 revenue to $6.18 billion vs $5.53 billion a year ago, and adjusted EPS of $1.94 vs $1.56 a year ago, per LSEG.
In May, ROST raised its annual forecast on resilient demand.
TJX shares are down 2.3% on Thursday, while Walmart WMT.O is down more than 9%.
Analyst recommendations on ROST include 14 "buy" or "strong buy" ratings and seven "hold" ratings, per LSEG. The median 12-month price target on the stock is $265.
Including the session move, ROST has jumped about 27% year to date, outperforming the Nasdaq's .IXIC roughly 12% rise.
