1. Processing rebounds
Russian refineries increased crude processing by about 25% in the second half of October compared with the start of the month, reaching around 5 million barrels per day, three industry sources estimated. Attacks on refineries stopped after October 16, Russian authorities said.
2. Diesel production rises
Refineries increased diesel output by at least 50,000 metric tons per day in October, reaching 225,000 tons per day, according to the estimates. Around 80,000 tons per day could be available for export, after exports were partially reopened under a diesel supply deal with the United States.
3. Attacks and repairs
Russian refineries had faced weekly Ukrainian drone attacks since mid-March, contributing to domestic fuel shortages and export restrictions. Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said refineries were bringing units back online because almost all required oil and gas equipment is manufactured domestically.
