Ryanair urges EU to extend EES border checks derogation to April 2027

Ryanair urged the EU Commission to extend the Entry/Exit System derogation to at least April 2027.

The airline warned the expiry on Sept. 6 removes flexibility for member states to ease border congestion during peak periods.

It said EES rollout has increased processing times, citing summer queues of 2-3 hours at some European airports.

Ryanair cited malfunctioning kiosks, staffing shortages, and delays, calling for more time to stabilize operations before full enforcement.
