SAB Biotherapeutics Wins Grant for PRISE-hATG Study in Stage 3 Type 1 Diabetes
SABS•SAB Biotherapeutics secured a Breakthrough T1D grant to fund the PRISE-hATG study evaluating SAB-142 in Stage 3 Type 1 Diabetes patients 100 days to two years post-diagnosis. The trial will assess endogenous C-peptide preservation and immune modulation, co-funded by SAB BIO alongside the Phase 2b SAFEGUARD trial.

SAB Biotherapeutics received a grant from Breakthrough T1D to support the PRISE-hATG study led by Michael J. Haller, M.D., at the University of Florida, targeting Stage 3 Type 1 Diabetes patients 100 days to two years from diagnosis.
2. PRISE-hATG Trial Objectives
PRISE-hATG is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled investigator-led trial designed to evaluate SAB-142’s ability to preserve endogenous C-peptide and modulate immune responses in individuals with residual beta cell function beyond the first 100 days after Stage 3 diagnosis.
3. SAB-142 Mechanism and Clinical Pipeline
SAB-142 is a fully human anti-thymocyte immunoglobulin with a mechanism analogous to rabbit ATG, directly targeting multiple T-lymphocyte populations to slow beta cell destruction and extend beyond the new-onset window explored in the Phase 2b SAFEGUARD trial.
4. Funding and Strategic Collaboration
SAB BIO will co-fund the PRISE-hATG trial alongside the grant award, reinforcing its strategy to advance disease-modifying immunotherapies and expand treatment options for Type 1 Diabetes patients outside the early diagnosis period.
