1. SAP Launches Cloud-Based Logistics Business Network

In June 2024, SAP introduced its Logistics Business Network, a cloud-native collaboration platform designed to connect shippers, carriers and logistics service providers on a single real-time freight ecosystem. Built on SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform), the network ingests shipment data across more than 50 major freight lanes and integrates directly with SAP S/4HANA and third-party TMS solutions. Early adopters report a 15% reduction in detention fees and a 12% improvement in on-time delivery rates within the first six months, driven by real-time status updates, automated exception alerts and AI-enabled route optimization. SAP has also established partnerships with over 20 major carriers—including DHL, Maersk and XPO—to ensure end-to-end visibility, and is targeting deployment in 30 additional markets by year-end to capitalize on the logistics software market’s projected growth from USD 17.8 billion in 2025 to USD 35.8 billion by 2033.
