AMD•Scaleway will build its first AI supercomputer outside France in Sweden, using AMD Instinct MI355X chips. The company said it will be Europe's first AMD-based AI supercomputer for commercial use, open to startups, AI companies and businesses.
1. Swedish supercomputer
Scaleway said the system will use AMD Instinct MI355X chips and be available to startups, AI companies and businesses across Europe. It said Sweden’s low-carbon electricity and AI sector influenced its choice of location.
2. Project partners
Bull will assemble and maintain the machine, with servers from Giga Computing, networking from HPE, storage from VAST Data and liquid cooling from Motul. Scaleway entered Sweden in May through a deal with telecom operator Tele2 to sell cloud and AI services.
3. Software ecosystem
AMD senior vice president for EMEA Stephanie Dismore said the project expands the choice of AI infrastructure available to customers in Europe through AMD Instinct GPUs and its open ROCm software. Scaleway said the system will be the first AMD-based AI supercomputer for commercial use in Europe.
