SCE says California Senate Bill 492 falls short of comprehensive wildfire reform
EIX•Edison International says amended bill is insufficient
Edison International criticized amended California Senate Bill 492, calling it insufficient to deliver durable wildfire reform.
It said the bill fails to prioritize wildfire fund access for fire survivors, risking slower recovery and higher customer costs.
It warned SB 492 does not provide a stable financing framework utilities need to fund grid safety investment at reasonable capital costs.
The utility plans to work with the next governor and legislature on broader reforms as wildfire risk rises with climate change.
