Scorpio Tankers agrees to buy four newbuilding tankers for $415.6 million
STNG•Scorpio Tankers agreed to buy four newbuildings for $415.6 million: two LR2 product tankers at $72.8 million each and two scrubber-fitted VLCCs at $135 million each. The company plans to partly fund the purchases by selling three product tankers for $180.5 million combined.
1. Purchase and deliveries
Scorpio Tankers agreed to buy two scrubber-fitted VLCC newbuildings for $135 million each, with deliveries expected in September and October 2028. It also agreed to buy two LR2 product tankers for $72.8 million each, to be built at Jiangsu Hantong and delivered in October and November 2029.
2. Planned tanker sales
The fleet renewal is partly funded by planned sales of three product tankers for a combined $180.5 million, expected to close by the end of 2026.
