Scotiabank joins BIS-IIF Project Agorá cross-border payments initiative
BNS•Scotiabank joined Project Agorá, a public-private initiative testing tokenization and programmable settlement for wholesale cross-border payments, after real-value testing was completed in July 2026.
1. Payment initiative
Scotiabank joined Project Agorá, a collaboration between the Bank for International Settlements and the Institute of International Finance focused on wholesale cross-border payments. The project tests tokenization and programmability for atomic multi-currency settlement using tokenized commercial bank deposits and central bank reserves; Scotiabank’s participation builds on real-value testing completed in July 2026.
