After a busy week of central bank decisions across emerging markets, attention will turn to Friday's annual Jackson Hole symposium. Fed Chair Kevin Warsh is due to make his debut speech at the gathering, though investors expect him to avoid giving a clear policy outlook.
Markets in energy-importing developing economies also drew support from falling oil prices, which extended recent losses on expectations that talks between Iran and Qatar could help reopen the Strait of Hormuz and ease supply disruptions linked to the Middle East war.
In South Africa, the rand ZAR=D3 edged 0.3% lower after domestic producer inflation slowed to 5.7% year-on-year in July.
In emerging Europe, the Hungarian forint EURHUF= and Polish zloty weakened 0.7% and 0.3% against the euro, respectively.
