Silence Therapeutics jumps after mid-stage trial data for blood cancer drug
SLN•Mid-stage trial data lifts Silence Therapeutics
U.S.-listed shares of Silence Therapeutics SLNCF.PK, SLN.O rose 35% to over a 20-month high of $16.17 after the company said its experimental drug, divesiran, met its main goal in a mid-stage trial in patients with polycythemia vera, a rare blood cancer.
The response rate was 88% in patients treated with divesiran, compared with 19% for placebo.
Cantor analyst Prakhar Agrawal called the data "excellent," noting divesiran "meaningfully exceeded the efficacy" of Takeda 4502.T and Protagonist's PTGX.O rival drug, rusfertide.
The drug significantly reduced the need for blood-removal procedures, phlebotomies, and helped keep patients' blood thickness under control, the company said.
The company plans to start a late-stage trial in the first half of 2027.
Including the session's move, the stock was more than doubled year to date.
