Silicon Labs BG22 SoC Drives BANF’s Battery-Free 4 kHz Real-Time Tire Monitoring

SLABSLAB

Silicon Labs integrated its BG22 ultra-low-power BLE SoC into BANF’s in-tire sensor to deliver real-time, battery-free 4 kHz tire data processing using wireless power transfer. The solution embeds Secure Vault technology for automotive-grade security and supports predictive maintenance and autonomous fleet tire intelligence.

1. Advanced Tire Sensing Platform

BANF integrated Silicon Labs' BG22 Bluetooth LE SoC into its iSensor, enabling battery-free in-tire measurement of 3-axis acceleration, pressure, temperature and tread depth at 4 kHz. On-board processing filters raw data to transmit key alerts such as wheel-nut loosening or slip events, reducing communication load.

2. Wireless Power and Security

The system uses BANF's Smart Profiler mounted on the vehicle to deliver continuous power via magnetic resonance, eliminating batteries in harsh tire environments. Secure Vault technology ensures automotive-grade data protection against tampering and spoofing, meeting autonomous vehicle security standards.

3. Market Impact and Applications

This partnership targets autonomous and fleet markets by feeding real-time tire intelligence into stability and chassis control systems. Accumulated data supports predictive maintenance, route optimization and insurance services, potentially expanding Silicon Labs' automotive IoT revenue stream.
