Royal Caribbean’s Silversea brand will open a 150-room hotel called The Cormorant at 55 South in Puerto Williams, Chile in October 2026, serving as a gateway for its Antarctica Fly Cruise program. The property features five themed public spaces and direct charter flights to King George Island to streamline polar expeditions.

1. Hotel Design and Amenities

The Cormorant at 55 South will offer 150 guest rooms with forest or water vistas, handcrafted Chilean furnishings and warm wood décor. Five signature public spaces—including a fireplace lounge, Bar Sur tasting bar and Latitude 55 restaurant—blend regional aesthetics with luxury service to enhance guest comfort and storytelling.

2. Strategic Role in Antarctica Fly Cruise

Silversea’s Antarctica Fly Cruise program will include one-night stays at The Cormorant before and after voyages, replacing the Drake Passage crossing with direct charter flights from Santiago to Puerto Williams. Guests will enjoy guided excursions such as kayaking, hiking and wildlife watching to deepen their polar experience.

3. Operational Timeline and Service Model

The hotel will operate seasonally from October through March, staffed by personnel trained in Silversea’s personalized service standards. Opening in October 2026, The Cormorant aims to deliver seamless logistics and high-touch hospitality for luxury expedition travelers.
