Sinopec launched a low-carbon energy cooperation initiative to accelerate global carbon capture, utilization, and storage collaboration.
The initiative was unveiled at the International CCUS Technology Conference 2026 in Astana on Sept. 1-2.
Partners include the International CCUS Technology Innovation Cooperation Organization, Kazakhstan’s Energy Ministry, and Nazarbayev University’s energy materials institute.
Sinopec highlighted a 100-km dense-phase CO2 pipeline and a 1,000,000-metric-ton-per-year integrated CCUS project already operating in China.
Work continues on a 10,000,000-metric-ton open-access CCUS hub study with Shell, BASF, and China Baowu.
