SK Hynix, Sandisk unveil first High Bandwidth Flash standard specs via OCP consortium
SNDK•SK hynix and Sandisk publish first HBF standard specification
SK hynix partnered with Sandisk to publish the first High Bandwidth Flash (HBF) standard specification via the Open Compute Project.
- HBF targets a new tier between HBM and SSDs, aiming to ease AI infrastructure bandwidth constraints while scaling capacity.
- The spec covers up to 512GB in 8-high or 16-high NAND stacks, with bandwidth grades spanning about 0.4 TB/s to 3.0 TB/s.
- Google and Tenstorrent joined the HBF consortium as SK hynix seeks broader adoption through an open, multi-company ecosystem.
