Sky Quarry Starts Production at Nevada’s Only Refinery with 100,000-Barrel Storage
CLMT•Sky Quarry will commence production at its Foreland Refinery near Ely, Nevada—the only operating refinery in the state—with operations slated for July. The site holds about 10,000 barrels of crude and in-process inventory and features over 100,000 barrels of storage capacity to serve Nevada’s fuel-deficient markets as Western capacity shrinks.
1. Production Phase Launch
Sky Quarry is set to begin production at its Foreland Refinery near Ely, Nevada, in July, marking the facility’s transition from repair and funding to operational status. Management reports that crude processing systems have been tested and are ready to deliver fuel products to regional customers.
2. Inventory and Storage Assets
The refinery currently holds approximately 10,000 barrels of crude and in-process inventory and boasts over 100,000 barrels of total storage capacity. This infrastructure is positioned to provide operational flexibility and supports immediate working asset utilization upon production start.
3. Strategic Market Position
As the only operating refinery in Nevada, Foreland occupies a rare position in a state heavily dependent on imported fuel. With Western U.S. refining capacity declining, the facility’s in-state processing capability offers logistical and cost advantages for supplying gasoline, diesel and jet fuel to the region.
