SLB gains on second-quarter profit beat

SLB's quarterly revenue in North America rose 36% to $2.24 billion.
Quarterly revenue in Latin America came in at $1.71 billion, compared with $1.53 billion the previous year.
However, Middle East and Asia revenue dropped 16% to $2.57 billion during the quarter.
CEO Olivier Le Peuch said activity resumed in several countries in the Middle East in Q2, but operations in Iraq remained constrained.
Total revenue came in at $8.97 billion, compared with $8.54 billion a year earlier. Including the session's move, the stock was up 32.15% year to date.
Shares rise after profit beat
Shares of U.S. oilfield services firm SLB were up 7.3% at $50.66, on track for their best day since January 5, after the company beat second-quarter profit expectations, helped by resilient demand across key markets.
SLB posted Q2 adjusted profit of 55 cents per share, compared with analysts' estimate of 51 cents, according to LSEG-compiled data.
