South Korea's Samsung SDI says to buy GM's share in battery joint venture

SEOUL, Aug. 11 (Reuters) - South Korean battery maker Samsung SDI said on Tuesday it will end a joint venture agreement with General Motors and acquire GM's 49.99% stake in SDI-GM Synergy Cells Holdings.
Samsung SDI said in a regulatory filing that it plans to solely operate the company to respond to market demand, including for ESS and EV batteries.
Samsung SDI said that specific changes to its investment plan have not been finalised.
