1. Contract Award and Scope

Southern Linc secured a contract with the Blount County Communications District to integrate the county’s legacy VHF, P25 and other radio networks into its CriticalLinc™ LTE infrastructure. The project covers handheld and mobile units across 32 law enforcement and fire agencies, as well as countywide dispatch for multiple municipalities.

2. Technical Solution and Benefits

The deployment features a Catalyst Communications Technologies gateway and dispatch console that unites local, regional and nationwide LMR and LTE networks. This architecture adds thousands of miles of push-to-talk capability, full end-to-end encryption and a three-layer redundancy model—Primary LTE, P25 backup and satellite failover.

3. Strategic Impact for Southern Company

This implementation underscores Southern Linc’s ability to deliver cost-effective, mission-critical communications to public safety clients without building new standalone networks. The win enhances the subsidiary’s recurring revenue potential and demonstrates scalable interoperability as a growth driver in Southern Company’s telecom segment.
