Soy down 4-6 cents, wheat steady to up 1 cent, corn steady to weak
DBA•Soybeans were expected to fall 4 to 6 cents per bushel, wheat to be steady to up 1 cent and corn steady to down 1/4 cent ahead of Friday’s USDA reports.
1. Grain futures outlook
Soybeans declined in early trading under pressure from the expanding U.S. harvest. Wheat was steady to firmer, while corn was nearly flat as traders awaited the USDA’s monthly supply-and-demand reports on Friday. A stronger dollar capped wheat’s gains, and dry weather continued to support harvest activity across much of the Midwest.
2. Export sales and estimates
For the week ended October 1, U.S. export sales were 549,400 metric tons of soybeans, 451,600 tons of wheat and 769,500 tons of corn. Analysts surveyed by Reuters expected the USDA to leave its 2026 soybean-yield estimate unchanged at 52.8 bushels per acre, lower its corn-yield estimate to 177.7 from 178.5 bushels, and raise its 2026/27 wheat ending-stocks forecast to 721 million from 717 million bushels.
