1. Lease terms
An affiliate of Apollo Global Management will buy AI chips and server hardware and lease them to SpaceX, under a deal with about $40 billion in total principal payments. Each lease will run a little over five years from the equipment’s arrival, according to a regulatory filing.
2. Spending plans
SpaceX aims to finalize the deal by year-end, with leases expected to start in the first half of 2027. CEO Elon Musk said the financing mainly targets chips arriving in the first and second quarters and would not be “a major factor this quarter.” CFO Bret Johnsen said SpaceX still expects fourth-quarter capital expenditure of $35 billion to $40 billion.
