1. Spotify Raises U.S. Subscription Prices
In mid-January, Spotify announced its most aggressive price adjustment in two years, increasing the Individual Premium plan from $11.99 to $12.99 per month. The Duo plan will rise from $14.99 to $18.99, the Family plan from $16.99 to $21.99 for up to six accounts, and the Student plan from $5.99 to $6.99. This marks a roughly 8% to 13% increase across paid tiers, projected to boost annual subscription revenues by approximately $500 million, based on the current U.S. user base of 100 million Premium accounts. Management cited rising content costs and ongoing investment in podcast and audiobooks as drivers for the adjustment, while forecasting that churn will remain below 3% given strong brand loyalty and exclusive content deals scheduled for release in the second quarter.
2. Institutional Investors Increase Stakes
According to its latest SEC filing, Csenge Advisory Group expanded its position by 277.8% during Q3, adding 2,317 shares to reach a total holding of 3,151 shares valued at $2.199 million. Other notable moves include Knuff & Co LLC’s new $27,000 position, Total Investment Management’s $29,000 entry, Heartwood Wealth Advisors’ $27,000 acquisition, Sound Income Strategies’ 156.3% stake boost to 41 shares worth $31,000, and GFG Capital’s $33,000 purchase. Institutional investors now control 84.09% of the company’s stock. These shifts reflect growing confidence among asset managers in the company’s long-term growth trajectory, supported by a 7.1% year-over-year revenue increase in the most recent quarter and a net margin of 8.46%. Equities analysts maintain a consensus Moderate Buy rating, with two Strong Buy, 23 Buy and nine Hold recommendations and an average price target near $744.
