SSAB, Greenbrier and Alter showcase circular steel collaboration at Iowa event
GBX•SSAB showcased a collaboration with Greenbrier and Alter Trading at its Iowa plant. Greenbrier built 50 gondola railcars using Zero steel to transport Alter’s recycled metal back to the plant for steel production.
1. Railcars transport recycled metal
Greenbrier built 50 gondola railcars using Zero steel to carry Alter Trading’s recycled metal back to SSAB’s Iowa plant in Montpelier. SSAB said Zero steel is produced exclusively at the plant using recycled steel and fossil-free electricity, resulting in near-zero fossil carbon emissions from production.
