Standard Lithium study outlines 70,000-tonne annual capacity at Texas Franklin project
SLI•A preliminary economic assessment for Standard Lithium’s Franklin project in East Texas estimates production capacity of up to 70,000 tonnes of battery-quality lithium carbonate annually, with initial production possible in the early 2030s.
1. Project estimates
Standard Lithium filed a preliminary economic assessment for its Franklin lithium project with Equinor in East Texas, recommending a preliminary feasibility study. The project is modeled to produce 1.29 million tonnes of lithium carbonate over a 20-year operating life, with a pre-tax net present value of $5.9 billion at an 8% discount rate and an internal rate of return of 25.7%. Average annual cash operating costs are estimated at $4,226 per tonne, with a three-year payback period.
