Starbucks will launch ready-to-drink coffees with 22 grams of protein, 5 grams of prebiotic fiber, five vitamins and minerals and 2 grams of sugar in grocery and convenience stores. Its stores now offer Protein Cold Foam and Protein Lattes delivering 15–36 grams of protein per grande beverage.

1. RTD Protein Coffee Launch

Starbucks will roll out a new line of ready-to-drink coffees in grocery and convenience stores featuring 22 grams of complete protein, 5 grams of prebiotic fiber, five vitamins and minerals, and just 2 grams of sugar per bottle. The products are slated to hit shelves on March 23 and expand Starbucks’ retail beverage footprint beyond cafes.

2. In-Store Protein Offerings

From late September, participating stores introduced Protein Cold Foam—which adds about 15 grams of protein per grande—to any cold beverage and launched Protein Lattes made with Protein-boosted Milk delivering up to 36 grams of protein in a 16-ounce serving. These in-store additions leverage growing cold foam popularity, used in one out of every seven beverages.

3. Rising Consumer Protein Demand

Recent consumer data indicates that 70% of Americans aim to increase protein intake—a rise of nearly 20% in three years—and 57% actively seek protein information on nutrition labels. This trend underscores strong demand for high-protein beverages as snack replacements.

4. Strategic Growth Implications

By expanding its ready-to-drink lineup and in-store menu, Starbucks positions itself to capture incremental revenue from protein-focused consumers and diversify its product offerings. Success could drive higher same-store sales growth and strengthen margins in the retail channel.
