Starfighters Space completes first flight hardware for Wind Tunnel in the Sky Mach 2+ test platform
FJET•Starfighters Space completed its first flight hardware for its reusable Mach 2+ airborne testing platform. The components will be assembled into two modular underwing flight articles at its Kennedy Space Center base.
1. Hardware completed
Starfighters Space completed precision-manufactured hardware for its reusable “Wind Tunnel in the Sky” airborne testing platform, designed for Mach 2+ flights. The components measure 3.65 meters long and 178 millimeters in diameter and are being shipped to the company’s Kennedy Space Center base for assembly into two modular underwing flight articles.
2. Testing program
The hardware is designed to fit existing F-104 underwing pylon systems. Interchangeable sections are intended to speed payload integration for hypersonics, advanced defense electronics or microgravity research. The program is advancing toward ground tests, aircraft integration, captive-carry flights and an initial planned customer deployment.
