Stellantis Commits $151M to $1.2B JV for Jeep and Peugeot EV Production

Stellantis and Dongfeng have agreed on a $1.2 billion joint venture to produce Peugeot and Jeep electric vehicles at a Wuhan facility, with Stellantis contributing $151 million. Production of four new EV models is set to begin in 2027 for both the Chinese domestic market and international exports.

1. Joint Venture Investment Details

Stellantis and Dongfeng have signed a $1.2 billion agreement to expand their Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobile Co. joint venture, with Stellantis contributing approximately $151 million toward new production capacity in Wuhan.

2. Production Plans and Timeline

The Wuhan facility will manufacture two newly developed Peugeot-branded EVs and two Jeep-branded off-road EVs, with series production scheduled to commence in 2027 targeting both domestic sales and international exports.

3. Strategic Cooperation and Future Expansion

The agreement includes a memorandum of understanding to deepen cooperation through shared R&D, larger operational scale and expertise exchange, aligning with Stellantis’ broader strategy to strengthen its position in the world’s largest auto market.

4. Government Support and Regulatory Conditions

Local policies from Hubei province and Wuhan municipal government support the initiative, which remains subject to final contracts, customary approvals and regulatory clearances before execution.
