Stellantis May Registrations Drop 2.6%, EU Market Share Falls to 15.3%
STLA•Stellantis’ European vehicle registrations fell 2.6% year-on-year in May to 146,381 units, dropping its EU market share to 15.3% from 16.2% last year and its wider European share to 14.3% after a 2.3% sales decline. Year-to-date registrations climbed 5.5% to 905,444 units, lifting regional market share to 15.5%.

In May, Stellantis registered 146,381 vehicles in the EU, a 2.6% decrease year-on-year, and saw a 2.3% drop to 163,000 units across the EU, EFTA and UK combined, reflecting a loss of momentum compared with broader market growth.
2. Market Share Trends
The group’s EU market share fell to 15.3% from 16.2%, while its share across the wider European region declined to 14.3% from 15.2%, yet Stellantis retained its position as Europe’s second-largest automotive group behind Volkswagen’s 26.1%.
3. Year-to-Date Growth
Despite May’s slowdown, Stellantis recorded 905,444 vehicle registrations in Europe over the first five months, up 5.5% year-on-year, with EU volumes rising 5.7% to 794,708 units and regional market share edging higher to 15.5%.
4. Brand Performance and Leapmotor Growth
Several core brands saw declines, with Peugeot down 12.6%, Opel/Vauxhall off 6.3%, Jeep down 11.1%, Alfa Romeo off 23.9% and DS down 31.4%, while Lancia slipped just 0.9%. Meanwhile, electric brand Leapmotor soared 465.1% to 9,945 May registrations and jumped 552.9% to 43,037 year-to-date sales.
