Stellantis Q3 shipments fall 1%, weighed down by North America production halt
STLA•Stellantis said global third-quarter shipments fell 1% year over year to an estimated 1.3 million vehicles, including a 12% drop in North America to 357,000. Europe shipments rose 10% to 588,000, while the company is due to report full third-quarter results on October 28.
1. Regional shipment trends
Stellantis’ North America shipments dropped 12% to 357,000 vehicles, mainly because of a summer production shutdown that affected Jeep models including the Grand Cherokee and Compass, each down 25,000 units year over year. Europe was the only region to improve, with shipments up 10% to 588,000, fuelled by demand for EV models.
2. Other regions and plans
Shipments in the Middle East and Africa fell 21% to 75,000, due to lower volumes in Turkey and Gulf Cooperation Council countries, impacted by conflicts in the region. The European figure includes around 44,000 vehicles from Chinese partner Leapmotor, which Stellantis distributes in the region. Stellantis is launching six new vehicles and unveiling nine concept cars at the Paris Motor Show this week, after CEO Antonio Filosa announced a €60 billion ($67 billion) turnaround plan in May.
