Stellantis Recalls 1.08M Jeep Vehicles Over Fire Risk as Shares Fall 30%
STLA•Stellantis is recalling 1.08 million U.S. 2021–2025 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles to replace defective steering-pump wiring that can overheat and ignite, plus 17,277 Pacifica plug-in hybrids for battery fire risk. Shares have dropped over 30% year to date.
1. Massive Fire-Risk Recalls Impact Millions
Stellantis is recalling 1,076,999 U.S. 2021–2025 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles to address an overheating electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring defect that can spark fires even with the ignition off. Dealers will inspect and replace the faulty components at no charge. The action follows a separate recall of 17,277 Pacifica plug-in hybrids for a battery pack defect carrying similar fire risk and a 419,000-unit recall for side airbag deployment issues, while the stock has slid more than 30% this year.
2. Malaysian Assembly MoU with Kia Enhances CKD Capacity
Stellantis Malaysia signed a memorandum of understanding to assemble Kia’s completely knocked down (CKD) vehicles at its Gurun, Kedah plant, with production slated to begin in Q3 2026. The agreement supports Kia Malaysia’s localization plan and aims to supply domestic and regional export markets, leveraging the facility’s multi-model assembly capabilities for current and future models.
