Stellantis Sells 49% Stake in CAD 5B Canadian Battery JV, Dodge Unveils AWD Chargers and Durangos
Stellantis exited its 49% stake in NextStar Energy, handing full control of the CAD 5 billion Windsor battery plant to LGES after BEV demand slowed and incentives were removed. Separately, Dodge standardised intelligent AWD systems across all 2026 Charger and Durango models, with prices ranging from $49,995 to $79,995.
1. Battery JV Stake Sale
Stellantis completed the sale of its 49% interest in NextStar Energy last month, exiting the joint venture and ceding full ownership of the CAD 5 billion Windsor battery facility to LGES. The move follows a sharp slowdown in U.S. BEV demand after incentive withdrawals and allows Stellantis to reallocate capital away from underperforming battery investments.
2. Dodge Standardises AWD Systems
Engineers have equipped all 2026 Dodge Charger and Durango models with intelligent all-wheel-drive systems, delivering a 50/50 torque split in wet or snowy conditions and customizable drive modes including Sport, Wet/Snow and Drift. The lineup spans from the 420-horsepower Charger R/T at $49,995 to the 710-horsepower Durango SRT Hellcat at $79,995, aimed at broadening year-round performance appeal.
