STMicroelectronics Grants AWS 24.8M Warrants, Wins Expanded Amazon Chip Contract
STMicroelectronics expanded its AWS partnership by issuing 24.8 million five-year warrants exercisable at €38.50, securing preferred access to AWS’s cloud-to-edge IoT services. Amazon also broadened its chip sourcing from ST to include advanced microcontrollers for its IoT Greengrass platform, bolstering ST’s multi-year order backlog.
1. AWS Partnership and Warrant Issuance
STMicroelectronics and AWS agreed to extend their collaboration with a strategic issuance of 24.8 million five-year warrants exercisable at €38.50, entitling AWS to convert into shares. This strengthens AWS’s stake in ST’s sensor-to-cloud roadmap and ensures ST prioritizes AWS’s deployment of cloud-to-edge IoT solutions.
2. Expanded Amazon Chip Sourcing
Amazon selected ST’s STM32 microcontrollers for integration into its AWS IoT Greengrass edge computing platform, marking a significant expansion of ST’s chip supply agreement. The new contract secures order visibility through 2027, with deliveries timed to support Amazon’s next-generation IoT and industrial automation offerings.
