STMicroelectronics Launches STM32C5 MCUs with 1MB Flash and $0.64 Entry Price

STMSTM

STMicroelectronics debuted its STM32C5 series based on a 40nm process with Arm Cortex-M33 cores, offering up to 1MB flash, enhanced security features, and low dynamic power for entry-level smart devices. Prices start at $0.64 per unit for 10,000 orders, with production underway and ecosystem tools updated.

1. Product Features and Performance

The STM32C5 series employs an Arm Cortex-M33 core on ST’s proprietary 40nm process, delivering higher clock speeds and up to 1MB on-chip Flash. This architecture boosts compute tasks such as digital filtering and sensor signal conditioning while maintaining low dynamic power consumption and supporting temperatures from -40°C to 125°C.

2. Application Targets and Ecosystem Support

Designed for smart thermostats, electronic locks, industrial sensors, wearables and EV chargers, the STM32C5 integrates tamper protection, AES encryption and memory isolation for secure IoT deployments. Developers gain access to an upgraded STM32Cube environment with production-grade drivers, STM32CubeMX2 preview code and Nucleo evaluation boards with graphical extension modules.

3. Pricing, Availability, and Packaging

STM32C5 MCUs are in production now, available in packages from 3×3mm UFQFPN20 to 20×20mm LQFP144. Volume pricing starts at $0.64 per unit for 10,000-piece orders, facilitating cost-sensitive designs without sacrificing performance or security for entry-level embedded applications.
