STMicroelectronics Starts Volume Production of China-Made STM32H7 MCUs
STMicroelectronics has begun volume deliveries of fully China-manufactured STM32H7 microcontrollers to local customers, produced at Huahong’s 40nm eNVM fab and packaged in Shenzhen. Production of secure STM32H5 and entry-level STM32C5 series is slated for mass manufacturing by end-2026 under the dual-supply strategy.
1. China Manufacturing Milestone
STMicroelectronics has kicked off general-purpose STM32 microcontroller volume production in China, partnering with Huahong to deliver the first batch of fully made-in-China STM32H7 units to local customers. Packaging and testing occur at ST’s Shenzhen fab and OSAT partners, ensuring seamless integration with existing global products.
2. Dual Supply Chain Strategy
This initiative establishes ST as the first global semiconductor firm with a true dual supply chain for 40nm MCU products, offering customers the choice between China-manufactured and outside-China units. Both production lines adhere to identical design, technology and quality standards, leveraging ST’s 15-year partnership with Huahong for eNVM wafer fabrication.
3. Roadmap for Additional STM32 Series
Following the current H7 series rollout, ST plans to commence mass production of the performance-oriented, secure STM32H5 series and the entry-level STM32C5 series by the end of 2026. These launches will expand local supply for applications from datacenter optics modules to home appliances, medical devices and wearables.
