Stocks aren't scared of the big, bad bond market
SPY•Stocks remained steady as global bond yields rose sharply: the VIX was around 16, up 1.5% in a week, while the Nasdaq hit record highs.
1. Stocks shrug off bond volatility
Global bond yields have risen to multi-decade highs, with the 30-year Treasury yield reaching its highest level since 2004. The MOVE bond volatility index climbed 37.2% week on week to 104.58, its largest such rise since March 2023, while the VIX was around 16 and up just 1.5% over the week. The Nasdaq hit record highs, and the S&P 500 was not far behind.
