Structure falls as investors await more obesity trial data, says Jefferies
GPCR•Shares fall after obesity trial update
Shares of Structure Therapeutics GPCR.O fell 13.4% to $40.73.
Brokerage Jefferies said weakness in the stock following Structure's trial data announcement is disconnected from the datasets, with no fundamental issues emerging from either the trial readout or the public call.
Earlier in the day, Structure reported positive early to mid-stage data for its experimental oral weight-loss drug Aleniglipron.
Jefferies sees broader pullback and waiting period
Jefferies said the company's shares were potentially affected by a broader pullback following recent heart-health trial disappointments, along with a lack of deal signal as investors await more data.
"We believe GPCR is emerging as one of the standalone differentiated oral obesity platforms of scale, and the current stage of development may represent an optimal window for strategic interest before further clinical validation increases the cost of entry," said Jefferies.
Up to last close, GPCR was down 40.8% year to date.
