Stryker taps insider Stiles to succeed industry veteran Lobo as CEO
SYK•Stryker appointed Spencer Stiles CEO effective January 1, 2027, replacing Kevin Lobo after 14 years in the role. Lobo will become executive chair of the board.
1. Planned leadership transition
Stryker said Spencer Stiles will become CEO on January 1, 2027, succeeding Kevin Lobo, who has held the top post for 14 years. Lobo will become executive chair as part of a planned succession process.
2. Stiles’ Stryker tenure
Stiles has worked at Stryker for nearly three decades, beginning in its endoscopy unit in 1999 and holding leadership roles across almost every business. He became president and chief operating officer in January 2026.
3. Business and analyst context
The appointment follows a warning last month from Stryker executives that manufacturing challenges would continue through the second half of the year, alongside weakness in hip and knee replacement procedures. J.P. Morgan analyst Robbie Marcus described Stiles as a highly capable operator with strong investor relationships and said he was well equipped for the role.
